How Fog City Entertainment Began: A Wedding DJ’s Journey from Passion to Production
When people ask me how I became a wedding DJ, I usually say, “It started with a love for music and a $3,000 dream.” But the truth is, the story runs much deeper, it’s about passion, resilience, and honoring life’s most meaningful moments.
As someone from a Gold Star family — my twin sister, Sr.A Alecia Sabrina Good, made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in 2006, I understand the value of celebrating life while we have it. For me, building Fog City Entertainment wasn’t just about starting a business. It was about creating a way to bring joy, connection, and unforgettable memories to others.
From Radio Booth to Wedding Booth
Before I ever stepped behind a wedding DJ booth, I was behind a radio microphone. I spent my early career as an on-air personality at San Francisco’s legendary Live 105, living and breathing music every day. One day, a friend in the event industry introduced me to the original owner of Fog City Entertainment, who was looking for female MCs ready to learn the art of mixing music.
It felt like fate — a chance to merge my love for music with my passion for working directly with people. There was just one problem: I needed $3,000 worth of audio equipment to get started.
The First Big Challenge
In 2003, $3,000 might as well have been $30,000. Radio DJ pay wasn’t exactly glamorous, and buying professional-grade gear seemed like a massive mountain to climb. Still, I couldn’t shake the idea that this was my calling.
With the encouragement of friends and family, I scraped together what I could, piecing together the bare minimum of equipment I’d need to start performing as a wedding DJ. I promised everyone who helped that I’d pay them back, every penny.
But then something magical happened.
When my loved ones saw the pure joy I felt after my first few weddings and live events, they didn’t want repayment. They believed in me, and they wanted me to succeed. That support lit the spark that would grow into Fog City Entertainment.
Building More Than a Business
From those early days of hauling speakers and untangling cables to today’s full-scale productions, my vision has always been the same: help couples and clients create seamless, high-energy, and totally unforgettable events.
Over the years, I’ve invested in top-tier sound systems, dazzling lighting designs, photo booths, and event photography — not just because they look amazing, but because they elevate every moment. I learned early on that a wedding DJ isn’t just there to play music. A truly great DJ acts as an MC, timeline manager, crowd reader, and memory maker.
That’s why Fog City Entertainment — and our sister brand, Gold Country Entertainment — is built on more than technical skill. We bring empathy, experience, and a personal touch to every event. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate celebration, school dance, or private party, our goal is the same: make sure our clients feel confident, supported, and stress-free.

Defining Moments Along the Way
Several moments shaped the journey from being a wedding DJ to running one of the area’s most trusted entertainment companies:
The First Packed Dance Floor – I’ll never forget the night the dance floor was so full we had to move tables to make more space. Seeing that joy made me realize I wasn’t just providing music. I was creating moments people would remember forever.
Learning to Anticipate Needs – Weddings and events are full of moving parts. I learned to read a room, pivot with last-minute changes, and smooth over potential hiccups before anyone noticed. That’s where the real value of a professional DJ/MC comes in.
Expanding the Services – Adding lighting, photo booths, slideshow presentations, and event photography wasn’t just about offering more, it was about creating an all-in-one entertainment experience so clients didn’t have to juggle multiple vendors.
The Results Speak for Themselves
Fast forward to today, and Fog City Entertainment has provided music, production, and unforgettable memories for hundreds of weddings and events. We’ve had the honor of working with couples who wanted everything from elegant, romantic evenings to all-night dance parties.
We’ve built a proven system that covers every detail of entertainment and event flow — so your celebration doesn’t just run smoothly… it feels magical. Our clients know they’re in good hands, and that confidence lets them relax, be present, and fully enjoy their big day.
Why We Do What We Do
At the heart of it, my work as a wedding DJ is about connection. Music is the heartbeat of an event — it sets the mood, guides the energy, and helps create moments that last a lifetime. Whether it’s the first song you dance to as a married couple or the final track that closes out the night, those moments matter.
And for me, there’s nothing more rewarding than watching people I’ve never met before become part of a shared, unforgettable experience on the dance floor.
From Passion to Production — And Beyond
What started as a leap of faith with $3,000 worth of borrowed belief has grown into a full-scale production company trusted by couples, corporations, schools, and private hosts alike.
Fog City Entertainment is more than just a DJ service — we’re your partners in celebration. We bring the experience, creativity, and passion to make your event everything you’ve dreamed of and more.
